Made to Measure Blinds: Measuring Guide

The first decision to make when measuring for Roman blinds is whether you want the blind to sit inside the recess or outside the recess. While this is largely a matter of personal preference, there are some important factors to consider:

  • Is there enough space to fit the blind outside the recess?
  • How much light do you want to block out?
  • Do you want the windowsill to remain visible when the blind is down?

Tips for Measuring Roman Blinds:

  • Use a metal measuring tape for precise measurements.
  • Always double-check your measurements to ensure accuracy.
Inside the Recess

WIDTH: Measure the width in several places, especially at the very top and bottom. Note the narrowest measurement of the recess. Reduce this figure by 1cms and this is your finished blind width.

DROP: Measure the drop in several places, especially the outside edges. Note the shortest measurement. This recess figure is your finished blind drop.

Outside the Recess

WIDTH: Measure the width in several places, especially at the very top and bottom. Note the narrowest measurement of the recess. Reduce this figure by 1cms and this is your finished blind width.

DROP: Measure the drop in several places, especially the outside edges. Note the shortest measurement. This recess figure is your finished blind drop.
