There’s something rather lovely about slipping into a favourite dress or knit and knowing it didn’t cost the earth - literally. At Kitty & Gus, we’re all about choosing brands that share our love of slow living, mindful making, and the sort of quality that feels just as good on the inside as it looks on the outside. One of those brands is Part Two.

They’ve been consistently doing their bit to tread lighter on the planet, and we thought it was high time we shared a little more about what makes their pieces so special - starting with their commitment to preferred materials and improving and expanding their sourcing of alternatives to conventional materials and production methods.

The Story Behind the Seams

We often talk about where things come from - whether that’s a handmade mug from a local potter or a lampshade stitched right here in the Borders. But clothing deserves that same curiosity. Who made it? What is it made from? And how does it impact the world beyond our wardrobes?

Part Two have asked those questions too - and their answers lie in a growing list of preferred materials that champion sustainability without compromising on softness, comfort or style.

Viscose, But Make It Responsible

Viscose might not sound very glamorous, but when it’s LENZING™ ECOVERO™, it suddenly becomes a bit of a star. This version is made from responsibly managed wood pulp - yes, trees! - with far lower emissions and water use than traditional viscose. It still has that dreamy drape and softness we love, but it also comes with a cleaner conscience.

From Forests to Fabrics – TENCEL™ and Friends

Then there’s TENCEL™- you may have seen the label on a floaty blouse or two. It’s a fibre made from wood too, created in a closed-loop process that reuses water and solvents to reduce waste. In short: it’s eco-friendly, gorgeously breathable, and feels like a gentle hug on the skin. What’s not to love?

A Second Life for Plastics

Not everything natural is better - and not everything synthetic is bad. Part Two also use REPREVE® recycled polyester, which gives new life to post-consumer plastics (like bottles) that would otherwise end up in landfill. It’s a smart way of making modern fabrics work harder, and keeping waste in circulation rather than the sea.

Grown with Care – Organic Cotton & Wool

When it comes to natural fibres, Part Two make sure their cotton and wool are organic and certified - grown without synthetic pesticides or GMOs, and with proper care for the people and animals involved. That means safer soils, happier sheep, and more peace of mind when you wrap yourself in something warm and wonderful.

The Leather Lowdown

For the few pieces that include leather, it’s always sourced from Leather Working Group-certified tanneries, where environmental impact and traceability are taken seriously. It’s another sign that every detail matters.

Why It Matters

We believe fashion should feel good in every sense - not just because it suits your shape or shade, but because it lines up with your values. By choosing brands like Part Two, you’re helping to shift the industry towards something more thoughtful, more transparent, and a lot more meaningful.

These aren’t just clothes. They’re stories of smarter choices, of working with nature instead of against it, and of celebrating beauty without waste.

And to us, that’s worth wearing.
